The City held a public hearing with the Planning Commission on March 11, 2010, and will hold a public hearing with the City Council on May 18, 2010, to adopt the revised Housing Element.

Council Housing Committee/Planning Commission Informational Presentations
July 14 and 23, 2009

On July 14 and 23, 2009, the Stockton Revitalization Department presented information to the Planning Commission and Council Housing Committee on the Housing Element Update. The City's Housing Element consultant, Mintier Harnish, made a presentation summarizing the proposed policies and programs that will guide the development of housing in Stockton.

Stakeholder Workshop #2
June 30, 2009

On June 30, 2009, the Stockton Revitalization Department will hold the second and final stakeholder workshop for the Housing Element Update in the Stewart Hazelton Room at the Cesar Chavez Central Library from 1:30-3:30pm. The City's Housing Element consultant, Mintier Harnish, will make a presentation to local housing stakeholders and the general public. The presentation will summarize the proposed policies and programs that will guide the development of housing in Stockton. After the presentation, City staff will ask the local housing stakeholders and the public to comment on the policy and program strategies.

Stakeholder Workshop
March 12, 2009

On March 12, 2009, the City of Stockton held a round-table discussion with stakeholders and members of the public on housing trends and issues as part of the Housing Element Update. The workshop provided a brief overview of the Housing Element Update process and discussed the major challenges to affordable housing in the city.

Workshop participants were then asked to provide input on the following topical areas:

  • The top three housing issues that should be addressed in the Housing Element update effort.
  • The top three barriers to affordable housing in Stockton.
  • What should be done to address the identified issues and barriers.
